Create a ZUGFeRD e-invoice from a legacy ERP via PDF print ZUGFeRD with a legacy ERP means generating e-invoices directly from your existing, no-longer-maintained ERP system (incl. MS-DOS) — with no macros, no heavy customization, and no system migration. With 7-PDF Printer Professional and the AI-powered 7-PDF Invoice Extractor, your normal invoice print turns into a valid ZUGFeRD e-invoice in one click. The required PDF/A-3b is produced by 7-PDF Printer. After PDF/A creation, the printer calls our AI via 7-PDF Attach Extract and Remove (CLI) — the AI is available in this tool via GUI and command line.

The PDF print automatically creates a standards-compliant PDF/A-3 with an embedded XML file in the ZUGFeRD format. All relevant invoice data is recognized and converted by AI-assisted analysis.

The key requirement is that your invoice data is machine-readable (vector text), ideally without header graphics carrying critical information, and that it meets the formal requirements of the e-invoice standard. For example, your VAT ID — and, where applicable (tax exemption), your customer’s VAT ID — must appear as machine-readable text in the print job. For DOS-based ERP/WaWi systems this is usually already the case.
